Ajaccio is the most important ferry port on the western side of Corsica Island. The white city of Ajaccio lies in a semicircle on the bay, and is set
against the backdrop of wooded hills. The ferry port area, fringed by palm trees, is filled with yachts and lined with colourful houses.
Ferries operate daily ferry crossings from Ajaccio to the port of Toulon, the port of Nice and the port of Marseille in the south of France, and to
Porto Torres in Sardinia island.
As the Ajaccio ferry port terminal is located near the centre of Ajaccio, there are many shops and restaurants within walking distance. At the port itself you will
find a convenience store and a cafe, as well as toilet facilities. All ferries provide good onboard facilities, including cafes, restaurants and shops.
All ferries are equipped to accommodate passengers with disabilities, providing wheelchair access to their onboard facilities. The passenger ferry terminal
also has good wheelchair accessibility, with disabled toilets also provided.
Corsica Ferries has sailings from Ajaccio to Nice, as well as Ajaccio to Toulon (France) with a journey time of just under 6 hours.
SNCM Ferries operates several routes to and from the Corsican port of Ajaccio. SNCM offers a quick ferry crossing from the French ports of Marseille,
Toulon and Nice as well as Porto Torres in Sardinia to Ajaccio ferry port. From the port of Marseilles there is a high speed ferry roughly
once daily, with seven days a week ferry service to Ajaccio port. All these sailings are overnight, 7-13 hours in length, arriving in Corsica island
the following morning. Sailings from Toulon are limited, with roughly one nighttime sailing a week to Ajaccio.
Ajaccio Ferry Port Facilities
Parking is available at the ferry port for both short and long-term stays, with specially designated areas available for those with disabilities.
Getting to Ajaccio Ferry Port by Car
Ajaccio is connected to the rest of Corsica by good road and rail networks, while ferries connect the port with France. If you are arriving at the port
from Bastia or southern Corsica, follow the Cours Napoleon until you arrive at Griffi square, then follow the signs to the ferry port (Gare Maritime).
Getting to Ajaccio Ferry Port by Train
There are two train companies (SNCF and CFC) operating out of the Ajaccio train station (Gare d' Ajaccio), with connections
to all parts of the island.
