Bergen Ferry Port Information |
|
The town of Bergen with its important ferry port is the seat of Hordaland fylke (county) in southwestern Norway. The principal ferry port and business section
is on a peninsula projecting into By Fjord, bounded on the north by the inlet and harbour of Vågen (for small ships) and on the south by Pudde Bay
(for larger vessels) and the Store Lungegårds Lake. Originally Bewrgen was called Bjorgvin. The city of Begen was founded in 1070 by King Olaf III.
Bergen is the second largest city of Norway and main ferry port terminal of Norway.
Anywhere near the ferry port there are many restaurants and pubs there and it's a good place to just sit and watch the movement. During the day
there's an open market and in the evening there is sometimes people out entertaining.

Getting to Bergen Ferry Port by Rail
Oslo - Gol - Geilo - Ustaoset - Finse - Myrdal - Voss - Bergen.
The Bergen Line - This line connects the two most important cities in Norway, Oslo and Bergen, and the train journey "over the roof of Norway"
is and experience in a class of its own. The Bergen Line is a unique experience on Northern Europe's highest railway. One of the greatest
challenges for the Bergen Line is the harsh and changeable weather. The line is exposed to deep low-pressure centers from the west, which can
mean strong winds and heavy snow for part of the year.
